  • Greece moves to boost production and export of medical marijuana


    Greece has made a great step forward opening up to the new possibilities of medical cannabis.

    The bill on medicinal cannabis was passed by the Plenary of the House of Representatives thus providing excellent business opportunities for such investments in Greece. The bill of the Ministry of Development, passed by a majority vote on principle, articles and as a whole, on the “Production, export and marketing of finished medicinal cannabis products of Cannabis Sativa L with a THC content of more than 0.2%”.

    After a roll call vote on the Authority, requested by the opposition party, the bill was passed by 158 MPs, while 33 MPs voted against it. The articles of the bill, the amendments and the bill as a whole were also passed by a majority.

    This legislative framework is a big step forward that will open up the door to new possibilities, especially following the increased interest by investors for this new business.

    Greece, can now be considered an optimum destination for investments in medical cannabis, as it offers mild climatic conditions, low costs, a highly developed agricultural sector and a legislative framework that can facilitate business growth.
